Daniel Jon Schroeder, 77, of Gilman

Daniel Jon Schroeder, 77, of Gilman passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on December 19, 1944 in Danforth, the son of Lester E. and Gladys (Claussen) Schroeder. Daniel married Cynthia K. Sapp in Kankakee on April 25, 1965 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn M. (Tom) Ulrichs of Danforth and Karen A. (Jeff) Roach of Gibson City; one daughter-in-law, Julie A. Schroeder of Clifton; grandchildren, Jon (Craig) Schroeder, Jordan (Tiffany) Schroeder, Ariel (Brad) Zulker, Jared (Alyssa) Schroeder, Matthew (Lyndsie) Ulrichs, Megan Ulrichs, Ashley (Cody) Loy, and Samantha Loy; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Schroeder of Gilman and David (Marcia) Schroeder of Danforth; three sisters, Judy (Paul) Bottorff of Crescent City, Mary Beavins of Bloomington, and Sarah (Jim) Leonard of Gilman.

Daniel was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Thomas Schroeder; one sister, Rebecca Schultz; and one son, Jon H. Schroeder.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman. Daniel worked for 10 years as a self-employed heating and air conditioning technician then later worked in Kankakee at Home Appliance and Brush Heating and Air. He was a 1963 graduate of Crescent-Iroquois High School. Daniel loved cars and helping people.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Pete Hinrich officiating. Burial will follow in the Danforth Cemetery in Danforth.

Memorials may be given to the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana or the Iroquois Memorial Hospital Resident Home in Watseka.

Arrangements are by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
