Donald J. Mylcraine, 90, of Piper City

Donald J. Mylcraine, 90, of Piper City passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Ascension St. Mary Hospital in Kankakee. He was born on July 24, 1931 in Watseka, a son of Alva and Inez (Martin) Mylcraine. Donald married Gennieve Dubree on May 18, 1957 in Piper City.

Survivors include his wife, Gennieve Mylcraine of Piper City; one daughter, Delores (Mike) Knowles of Corinth, Texas; one son, David (Tammy) Mylcraine of Piper City; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Carter; and three brothers, Sherrill Mylcraine, Ray Mylcraine, and Lyle Mylcraine.

Donald was a member of the Piper City United Methodist Church. Donald served in the United States Air Force from 1951 – 1955 as an engine mechanic on B-36 Bombers. He worked for the National Gas Pipeline Company of America in Herscher for 35 years as a Senior Instrument and Controls Technician. Donald enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Piper City United Methodist Church in Piper City with Rev. Elizabeth Reis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in the Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City with graveside military rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Piper City United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or donor’s choice.

Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
