Joyce Michaline Suska, 85, of Onarga, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

Joyce was born on September 15, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of Allen John Robison and Irene Sofie Lange, and they preceded her in death along with three older brothers, Richard (Arlene) Robison, Allen (Vivian) Robison, and Ronald (Marie) Robison; one son Mark Patrick Suska; one granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn (Felipe) De La Mora.

Surviving is one son, Michael (Raeline Eiffert) Suska of Onarga; one daughter, Lynn (Kevin) Kodrick of Casey Key FL; four grandchildren, Weston Spoon of Sarasota, FL, Quinton Suska of Sheridan, WY, Matthew Kodrick of Plainfield, IL, Nicholas (Christine) Kodrick of Marco Island, FL; two great grandchildren, Natalia Lynn De La Mora and Felipe Edward De La Mora of Naples, FL; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joyce married Edward August Suska, Jr. on June 10, 1956 at St. Richard Catholic Church in Chicago and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2022.

She wanted to have a family always. Joyce and Ed moved to Tucson, Arizona where sons Mark and Mike were born. Joyce wanted a baby girl and soon after moving back to Illinois near family, daughter Lynn was born in 1960.

Joyce worked tirelessly to create a beautiful home for her family and she had a special knack for interior decorating. She and Ed shared a passion for horses and animals, so they moved to the country and started to build barns and arenas in the Lockport area. The entire family participated in rodeos; Joyce and daughter Lynn were barrel racers while Ed and sons Mark and Mike competed in team roping events. Joyce was invited to visit patients at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago as part of a promotion as a competitor in the World Championship Rodeo held at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago. Joyce was a member of the Illinois Girls Rodeo Association where she and the other members met and took photos with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans!

Joyce and Ed traveled much of Europe with Paris being her favorite destination.

Joyce became a master gardener with beautiful landscapes surrounding her homes. She loved roses!

Joyce Suska was a loving mother, a beautiful woman inside and out, with just the right amount of sass to the end and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A private service for the immediate family will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga with Fr. Michael Powell officiating.
