William Herschel "Billy" Pierce II, 55, of Onarga

William Herschel “Billy” Pierce II, 55, of Onarga, IL, passed away at 4:27 A.M. Friday December 17, 2021, at his home.  He was born February 21, 1966, in Watseka, IL, the son of William (Linda) Herschel and Judy Haxton (Wayne) Frederick.  He married Jamie Seggebruch on October 2, 1999, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hoopeston.  She survives in Onarga.   

He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Judy and Wayne Frederick of Hoopeston, IL; his father and step-mother, William and Linda Herschel of Danville, IL; two daughters, Marissa and Katherine Pierce of Loda, IL; two sons, Lance Pierce of Milford, IL and Evan Seggebruch of Onarga, IL; two sisters, Starla Anderson of Cissna Park, IL and Crystal Pierce of Danville, IL; 7 grandchildren, Kaden Kelley, Kalie Kelley, John Poindexter, David Pierce, Elexsis Poindexter, Makalynn Pierce, and Emma Graham; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Layton and Kim Seggebruch of Onarga, IL; brother-in-law, Josh (Jamie) Miller of Hoopeston, IL; one niece, Chloe Miller; and 3 nephews, Jason Blackburn, Kyle Blackburn, and Cole Miller. 

He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Carol Pierce; step-father, Don England; and one nephew, Cody Frost. 

Billy worked as a supervisor at Howard’s and then went to work for Iroquois Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department.  He later became a concrete finisher for PSI in Kankakee where he worked for many years.  He served in the United States Marine Corps.  He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church- Ash Grove in Onarga, IL.  Billy had served as a Milford Cub Master and was a member of the Pheasants Forever Young Guns and the Loda Sportsman’s Club. He was also a member of the Hoopeston Conservation Club and the Cissna Park American Legion Post #527. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and dartball. Billy enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus and the Easter bunny for many nursing homes, a tradition which was later carried on by his children. 

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday December 22, 2021, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.   The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday December 23, 2021, at St. Johns Lutheran Church- Ash Grove, 1180 E. 1000 N. Road, Onarga, IL, with Rev. Michael Ruhlig officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Johns Ash Grove Cemetery, with military rites being accorded by the Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
