Birdie Bond, 91, of Milford passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka. She was born on November 19, 1929 in Stockland, the daughter of John and Ora Catherine (Votaw) Smith.

She married Maurice “Pack” Bond on June 18, 1948 in Stockland and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Louise Wheeler; and two brothers, Eugene and Carl Smith.

Birdie is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Lyonel) Leonard of Lakeland, FL, Dr. Connie (Mike) Schroeder of Milford, and Penny (Craig) Cheever of Milford; six grandchildren, Brian (Ariana) Leonard, Jason Leonard, Lucas Schroeder (Rochelle Deno), Jacob (Jeni) Schroeder, Dexter (Jessica) Cheever, and Anne (Stewart) Romadka; seven great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bond attended the Milford Christian Church. She was a long-time employee of Citizens State Bank of Milford, Women’s Club Member, and caregiver to her husband later in life. Birdie enjoyed bowling, machine video poker, being a seamstress, playing cards, bingo, taking walks outside and working in her yard.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the 5:00 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Marsha Ronna will officiate. Burial will be held at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Milford Public Library or Milford Park and Pool Foundation.
