Sandra R. Wyss, 79, of Cissna Park passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on October 8, 1941 in Watseka, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl (Baker) Rothery.
She married Andrew Burtzos on March 14, 1962 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on May 6, 1969. She later married Gerald R. Wyss on September 12, 1974 in Cissna Park, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Sandra is survived by two sons, Foti (Belinda) Burtzos of Valley Center, CA and Tom (Christina) Burtzos of Bloomington; one daughter, Demmie Williams of Champaign; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bruce (Patty) Rothery of Danville.
Mrs. Wyss was a member of the Cissna Park United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s and Jr Women’s Club. She enjoyed her travels through Greece, where she learned Greek cooking. Her hobbies included her bowling leagues, euchre card club, and her garage sale group. She was an avid shopper and collector. But most of all, her trips to California visiting family and attending her grandkids sporting events was her greatest love of life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the Cissna Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Cissna Park Cemetery.
