Robert E. Gray, 88 of Gilman

Robert E. Gray, 88 of Gilman passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home. He was born April 5, 1932 in Cullom, the son of Francis and Rose (Weber) Gray.

He married Stella Kruder in 1986 in Cook County and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2016. He is also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul “Bud” and Vincent; one brother-in-law, Donald Wulff; one son-in-law, Bruce Frenzke, and one great-granddaughter, Emily.


He is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Kim) Gray of Gilman and Rick (Sue) Gray of Gilman; three daughters, Barb (Ron) Wagner of Onarga, Sandra Frenzke of Bourbonnais, and Tonia (David) Fisher of Georgia; two step-sons, Bill Kruder of Arizona and Larry (Melinda) Kruder of Chicago; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Wulff of Manteno and Rita (Leo) Weller of Cullom; one brother, John T. (Bobbie) Gray of Ashkum; and one sister-in-law, Barb Gray.

Mr. Gray was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth. He was the current partner along with his brother John in Gray’s Material Service, beginning in 1958 until his death. He devoted his entire life in the business to make it prosper.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth. Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Duane Marburger will officiate. Burial will follow at Danforth Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth.
