Robert “Bob” Murphy, 82, of Gilman passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his home. He was born July 21, 1936 in Amsden, Ohio, the son of Russell and Mina (Meyer) Murphy and they preceded him in death.

He married Charlene Mizener on June 1, 1963 in Oak Harbor, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Brad Murphy of Ohio and Gregg (Jill) Murphy of Gilman; one daughter, Monica (Matt) Schober of Ohio; six grandchildren, Ashley, Erika, Ryan, Nathaniel, Samantha and Rebekkah; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eunice Dupey of Ohio.

Mr. Murphy served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961 and attended the United Methodist Church in Gilman. He spent his childhood in Ohio and attended Amsden Schools and Tiffin University. Bob was a tax and license accountant and in his retirement, he managed a KOA in Myrtle Beach, SC. He enjoyed camping and being with his family.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Gilman. Vicki Killus will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at Elwood.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Gilman and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gilman United Methodist Church or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
