Rosalie Carter, 87, of Manteno and formerly of Paxton

Rosalie Carter, 87, of Manteno and formerly of Paxton passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Illinois Veterans Home of Manteno. She was born on April 24, 1931 in Sidell, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Brown) Maring. She married Eligah Carter in Harrisburg, IL. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2004.

In addition to her husband and parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by eleven siblings – William Maring, Raymond Maring, Dwayne Maring, Ellen Bowlin, Helen Wilson, Frank Maring, Mable Herbert, Millie Maring, Jack Maring, Mary Spires, and Ralph Maring.

Mrs. Carter is survived by one step daughter, Jane Wilkerson; eleven siblings – Chester Maring, Shirley Whaley, Connie Anderson, Paul Maring, Judy Reed, Alice Lamb, Chuck Maring, Peggy Miller, Bobby Maring, Kenny Maring, and Art Maring as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rosalie served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. She enjoyed BINGO, cooking, and her cook books. She was a member of the American Legion in Sidell and was very proud of the honor shed had of going on the Freedom Flight with other veterans to Washington DC. She loved her many dogs. Rosalie enjoyed attending flea markets over the years with her husband.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton. Burial and graveside services with military rites will be at 2:00 pm at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton.
