Mary Louise Hoover, 86, of Watseka and formerly of Kentland, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Sheldon Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1931 in Fowler, IN, the daughter of Chris G. and Bessie Robertson Sorenson. She married Herb Hoover on May 20, 1951 in Brook, IN and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jim and Dale Sorenson; four sisters, Betty McDaniel, Ruth Peck, Edna Walkup and Martha Masterson; one daughter, Ann Wince; and one grandson, Bryce Hoover.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Mike) Pugh of Goodland, IN, Trula (Gary) Raymond of Watseka and Mary (Ron) Salla of Earl Park, IN; three sons, Steve (Carmen) Hoover of Dunnellon, FL, Dan (Chell) Hoover of Brownsburg, IN and Mark (Beth) Hoover of Watseka; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Watseka Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. She had worked at the Watseka Subway where she was the very first employee hired. Mary enjoyed music, cooking and gardening. She was a loving and kind mother who was very proud of her family.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. David Field will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland, IN.
