Ronald Eugene “Gene” Hess, 80, of Clifton, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018; at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Gene was born on March 24, 1938 in Milks Grove Township; the son of the late Marshall and Dorothy (Peters) Hess. Gene married Anna Wade in Wautoma, WI on May 28, 1966. Gene worked at Mortell for 37 years until he retired. During his leisure time Gene loved to fish, was an avid White Sox fan, enjoyed completing puzzles, and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Anna, his children: Sharon Welge of Clifton, Linda (Mona Aprile) Hess of Chebanse, Rhonda (Louis) Gasperini of Clifton, Donna (Mark Lafond) Hess of Clifton, Mark (Danielle) Hess of Chebanse, a sister Mary (Dave Tucker) Scott of Chebanse, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way, 6 step-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gene was also preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Ellen Hess, a brother Arnold Hess, a granddaughter Tonya Hess, and a son-in-law Kevin Welge.

In accordance with his wishes, Gene gave himself as a gift to scientific research. A memorial service for Gene will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 13, 2018; at Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton. Rev Ray Bowers will officiate.

Those who wish may leave memorials in Gene’s name to Kankakee Valley Hospice or to Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton.
