David Romine 61 of Watseka

David Alan Romine, 61, of Watseka passed away on July 14, 2018 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. He was born on August 20, 1956, the son of Walter E. and Eleanor Elaine (Eastburn) Romine. He married the love of his life and his soulmate, Leatha Ann Rogers on November 20, 1982 in Watseka and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Leatha Romine of Watseka, David is survived by one daughter, Tifanie Ann Romine and one son, Ryne Alan Romine; his mother, Elaine Romine of Watseka; one sister, Jeanine (JR) Clifton of Watseka; two brothers, Robert (Cheri) Romine of Ft. Collins, CO and Duane Romine of Watseka; nieces and nephews, Travis, Cody, Brittany, Jeff (Ashley), and Mark (Lacy); great nieces and nephews, Savanna, Ben, Grace, and Logan; sister in law, Marietta Varboncouer; close friend, Bob Buckley; nephews, Todd Fish and Kevin Trumble; sister in law, Kathy Rogers; nephews and nieces, Kirt and Tonya, Doug and Isabel; great niece and nephew, Brandy and David; great great nephew, Eli; niece, Wanda Turnbull; great nephew, Gordon; great nephews, Alijah and Alonzo; great niece, Khloe; nephew, Mike and Kandace; great great niece, Ella Mae; great great nephews, Westin, Cohen, and Brayden; aunt, Eliner Meierle; aunt, Clarice Farrand; uncle, Everett Wood; and many loving cousins and second cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Belinda Eastburn; paternal grandparents, William & Flossie Romine; his father, Walter Romine; uncle and aunt, Orie and Marlene Redman; uncle, Larry Meierle; aunt, Evelyn Eilts; cousin Bill Eilts; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James H. and Eleanor (Wood) Rogers; brother-in-laws, Kenneth, William, James and Colin Kelly Rogers; cousin, Dustin Trudeau; nephew, Bobby Rogers; niece, Kandy Peterson; and great niece, Teresa Rogers.

David attended Watseka schools and graduated from Watseka High School in 1975. He worked hard all of his life. As a kid he helped clean the theater, bailed hay, and did general farm work. David later worked for Lasser’s Furniture Store in Watseka, Kendall Garbage Disposal in Donovan, McCord’s Tire Service in Watseka, and most recently, he worked for over twenty years for the Watseka Public Works Department. He served on the Watseka Fire Department from 1980-2000 as a firefighter, and later became a lieutenant before retiring. Mr. Romine attended church at the United Methodist Church in Watseka. He was very devoted to his church and his church family.

Mr. Romine was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. He was a great provider for his family and always thought of their welfare first. David was very friendly, kind, and respectful to everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face and would often wave to those he didn’t even know. David was a genuine person that cared for everyone. Children were drawn to him, as he had many special great nieces and great nephews. He was a war and history buff and was very knowledgeable on those topics. He loved the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Vikings. Mr. Romine had many friends. He will be greatly missed not only by his family, but by the Watseka community and the surrounding areas.

Funeral services will at 12:30 on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka. Pastor Robert Sabo will officiate. Burial will follow at Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka.

Visitation will be from 9:30-12:30 on Saturday, July 21, 2018 also at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka.

Memorials may be made to the Family’s Wishes.
