Huldah Buhrmester Callahan, 99, of Watseka

Huldah Buhrmester Callahan, 99, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Born on May 18, 1919 to John and Clarissa (Clara) Houmes on the family farm near Stockland, IL. She graduated from Stockland High School. She was a housewife and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and her flowers; she said flowers made a house more of a home. Huldah worked for 32 years as a nurse’s aide and in central supply at Iroquois Memorial Hospital.

Surviving Mrs. Callahan are her sons, Michael (Renee) and Robert (Nalena) Buhrmester of Watseka; daughters, Phyllis (Robert) Feller of Washington, Susan (Werner) Carron and Imogene (David) Brandenburg of Missouri; sister, Jane Smith of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Glenn Buhrmester and Lee Callahan; and siblings, Lucille, William, Paul, John, and Dale.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Baier Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Milton will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka, IL.

Memorials in Mrs. Callahan’s name can be made to the IMH Hospice.
