Lois Anne Schmidt, 93, of Milford passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at her residence.

Lois was born December 28, 1924 in rural Cissna Park, the daughter of Ernest and Mary Yergler Bauer. She married Henry E. Schmidt on July 22, 1945 in Woodworth and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Sandra Schmidt and Sherry Schmidt; five brothers and sisters, Ernest, Earl “Bud” Bauer, Alvin Bauer, Marjorie Rinkenberger, and Ella Wittmer.

She is survived by four sons and daughters, Sue (Curt) Spaur of Hoopeston, Chuck (Sheila) Schmidt of Milford, Joan (David) Stuart of Port Moody, British Columbia, and Mark (Lisa) Schmidt of Elburn; six brothers and sisters, Wilma Blunier of Eureka, Marie Hohulin of Roanoke, Dorothy Walder of Cissna Park, Carol (John) Waldbeser of Cissna Park, Robert (Sonnie) Bauer of Cissna Park, and Pete Bauer of Cissna Park. Lois dearly loved her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lois was grateful for her long, blessed life. She believed in and practiced taking one day at a time, truly being present in the moment. Her care and love for Sherry led to her work at the R.P. Roberts Friendship Home in Watseka where she utilized her special gifts of attending to the needs of others and sharing her positive attitude. Lois and Henry were founding members of IARC, now called the ARC of Iroquois County. Lois had a never ending patience, listened without comment and worked to reserve judgment. Her strong faith, sense of humor, and clarity stayed with her until the end.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Christian Bible Church in Cissna Park. Pastor Silas Montgomery will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.

Visitation will be from 4:00–8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.
