Lorraine M. Smith, 75, of Watseka

Lorraine M. Smith, 75, of Watseka passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

Lorraine was born August 21, 1942 in New York City, NY, the daughter of Raymond and Anna Crowley Bourguignon. She married Glenn R. Smith on July 1, 1962 in Elmhurst, NY and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Francis Bourguignon; one brother-in-law, Paul Smith; and one grandson, Mark Stephen Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Don) Hamende of Watseka and Donna J. Smith of Bourbonnais; one son, Stephen (Anna) Smith of Minooka, IL; two sisters, Suzanne Smith of Huntington, AL and Diane (Charles) Heagle of Clifton; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka and its Council of Catholic Women where she had been honored as a Woman of the Year. She was a founding member of the Toastmasters International Watseka club, Iroquois Early Risers, where she often served as an officer. Lorraine was honored as Toastmaster of the Year in 2007-2008, served as Toastmaster International Regional Governor to central Illinois and earned the title of "Distinguished Toastmaster" for achievement in speaking, service and leadership. Lorraine was a paralegal for many years.

A funeral mass will be on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. Fr. Michael Powell will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Martinton.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with rosary at 3:45 pm.

Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Grundy County.
