Watseka Police Department News 4/30/19

Police responded to a suicidal subject in the 100 block of E. Mulberry at 7:46 am.

An officer observed a male subject in the 200 block of Walnut St. at 8:50 am, he knew to have an outstanding warrant. Arrested was Casey Tucker, 32, Watseka, for an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with battery. He was taken to the County jail.

Police responded to a neighborhood problem in the 800 block of W, North St. at 10:03 am.

Police warned two female subjects for trespassing on railroad property in the 100 block of S. Yount at 1:12 pm.

Police responded to a subject that located a back pack in their bushes while doing yard work in the 600 block of W. North St. at 3:28 pm. The backpack contained a stolen catalytic converter from a recent theft. The bag was placed into property at WPD.

Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 500 block of E. Lincoln at 5:00 pm.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of E. Ash at 6:07 pm.

Police observed a W/ M walking on the TP&W tracks in the 200 block of E. Walnut at 6:46 pm. Police made contact with John Hedges, 61, Watseka, who was placed into custody for Trespass to Rait Road Property and Posession of a Hypodermic Needle. He was transported to the County Jail.

Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of 5th and Cherry at 8:56 pm. A verbal warning for one headlight was given,

Police responded to the 200 block of S. Second St. at 9:09 pm for Criminal Damage to a Vehicle.

Police responded to found property in the 400 block of E. Walnut at 9:18 pm.

 

Police responded to a neighborhood dispute in the 400 block of N. Market at 10:02 am.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 500 block of E. Grant at 11:57 am.

Police cited Jacob Turak, 28, Watseka, at 3:07 pm for Driving while License Suspended after a vehicle stop in the area of 6th and Mulberry. He posted bond and was released.

Police cited Diana Swaford, 39, Watseka, at 3:25 pm for Driving While License Suspended after a vehicle stop in the area of Seventh and Oak. She posted bond and was released.

Police were called to 1790 E. Walnut at 4:11 pm for a shoplifter. Arrested was Haley Shantz, 18, Watseka, for Retail Theft. She was transported to the County Jail.

Police responded to the 500 block of E. Grant at 5:11 pm for a child custody dispute.

Police conducted a golf cart inspection in the 1100 block of W. Smith St. at 5:49 pm.

a complaint of a barking dog in the 500 block of S. 6th St. at 6:06 pm.


 

Police conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of E. Walnut at 6:54 pm. A verbal warning for a broken taillight was given.

Police responded to the 100 block of Lakeview Ct. for a subject needing a Mental Evaluation. Subject was transported to IMH.

Police responded to Criminal Damage to Property in the 100 block of S. Brown at 9:40 am.

Police responded to an accident in the 300 block of W. Walnut at 10:50 am. According to reports a 2006 Buick operated by Courtney Kramer-Mckinny, Watseka, rear-ended a 2013 Jeep operated by David Smalley, Watseka. Damage was in excess of $1500.00 dollars no citations or injuries reported.

 

 
 


Police responded to a possible water main break in the 900 block of Western Ave. at 12:09 pm. A subject down the block was found to be draining their pool.

Police responded to a dog running at large in the area of 8th and Cherry at 12:30 pm.

Police responded to a suspicious person in the 600 block of E. Walnut at 12:43 pm.

An officer observed Heather Brewer, 22, Watseka, walking in the area of 2nd and Oak at 11:25 am and knew her to have an outstanding warrant. Brewer was placed into custody on an outstanding Ford County Warrant charging her with FTA for traffic offenses. She was taken to the County Jail.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 100 block of Lakeview Ct. at 1:37 pm.

An Officer observed Mindi Parsons, 28, Watseka, in the 200 block of E. Hickory and knew her to have an outstanding warrant at 3:10 pm. Parsons was placed into custody for an outstanding Kankakee County Warrant charging her with FTA for Leaving the Scene of an Accident. She was transported to the County Jail.

Police responded to the 800 block of W. Franklin for a Theft at 3:28 pm.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/30/19

On April 27th , 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Brandon J. Wood, age 35. According to police reports, Wood was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with failure to appear for burglary, He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond,

 

On April 28th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Shai A. Arseneau, age 22. According to police reports, Arseneau was wanted on an outstanding Kankakee County warrant for failure to appear for retail theft. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail to await extradition to Kankakee County

.

On April 28th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Carey F. Roberts, age 39, of Watseka. According to police reports, Roberts was charged with aggravated domestic battery. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.


 
 


On April 28th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Aven L. Snyder, age 34, of Ashkum. According to police reports, Snyder was wanted on two outstanding Effingham County warrant charging him with driving while license revoked and contempt of court. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail to await extradition to Effingham County.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/26/19

On April 25th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested William C. Blunt, 31, of Chicago.

According to police reports, Blunt was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for Residential Burglary. Blunt was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 25th, 2019, Gilman Police Department arrested Stephen J. Fetters, 32, of Gilman, IL. According to police reports, Fetters was wanted on a Ford County warrant for Domestic Battery. Fetters later posted bond and was released-

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/25/19

On April 22th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Nicholas J. Davis, age 301 of Watseka, IL.

According to police reports, Davis was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for aggravated domestic battery. Davis was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 22th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Phillip R. Anglin, age 42, of Piper City, IL.

 
 


According to police reports, Anglin was charged with theft over $500 and possession of a stolen vehicle. Anglin was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 22th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Clifford Mischke, age 19, of Piper City, IL. According to police reports, Mischke was charged with theft over $500, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary, and aggravated fleeing. Mischke was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 22th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Erica M. Cantu, age 351 of Piper City, IL, According to police reports, Cantu was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging her with theft over $500 and possession of a stolen vehicle. Cantu was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she remains in lieu of bond.

On April 23rd, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Thomas H. White, age 45, of Chebanse,

IL. According to police reports, White was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for communication with a witness and was also wanted on a McLean County warrant. White was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 23rd , 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Evan M. Hoekstra, age 27, of St. Anne, IL. According to police reports, Hoekstra was charged with residential burglaryl theft over $500, and possession of a stolen firearm. Hoekstra was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

On April 23rd, 2019, Milford Police arrested Joshua A. Irvin, age 39, of Milford, IL. According to police reports, Irvin was wanted on an outstanding Vermilion County warrant. Irvin was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu on bond.

On April 24th , 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Travis H. Creveling, age 26, of Buckley, IL. According to police reports, Creveling was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for domestic battery and a Ford County warrant. Creveling was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

ISP FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT IN KANKAKEE COUNTY

WHAT:  Fatal Crash 
 
WHERE:   Route 17 @ 10000 W (Kankakee County) 
 
WHEN:  Tuesday, April 23, 2019, 3:00 p.m. 
 
VEHICLE:  Unit One:  2002, Ford, F100    Unit Two:  1998, International, Grain Truck          DRIVER:  Unit One:  Larry G. Dollinger, 70, Kansas City, MO (Deceased)    Unit Two:  Larry L. Heagle, 72, Kankakee 
 
 
PRELIMINARY:  Preliminary investigation has indicated the Ford was traveling eastbound on Route 17 at 10000 W.  The Grain Truck was traveling westbound at the same location.  The Ford drifted into the westbound lanes and struck the Grain Truck head on.  The Ford then continued eastbound and collided with the guard rail on the north side of Route 17.  The driver of the Ford was pronounced deceased on scene by Kankakee County Coroner.    

Fatal Car Crash in Iroquois County

 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police investigated a two vehicle accident in rural Danforth at the intersection of 200 E. Co, Rd. and 2300 Na Rd.- According to the police repott Lloyd G. Anderson age 79 of Danforth was traveling East bound on 2300 when he failed to stop at the posted intersection at 200 E. Co. Rd.. Anderson's vehicle entered the intersection striking a vehicle traveling South bound on 200 E, Co Rd. driven by Nicholaus G, Oliver age 27 of Onarga Lloyd G. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene- Anderson's passenger Levi A. Lewis age 32 of Gilman was released with minor injuries-

Nicholaus G, Oliver was transported to Riverside Hospital with serious injuries-

Nicholaus G, Oliver was issued citations for driving while suspend and failure to wear a seatbelt.

WACC Annual Banquet Committee announce 2019 Professional Award Winner

The Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Annual Banquet for 2019   “Cinco de Mayo” will be held at the Watseka Elks Lodge on Wednesday, May 1st starting at 5:30 PMTickets are available which includes a meal of a taco bar and two drink tickets. A cash bar will be available. The WCHS Jazz Band will be providing entertainment.  Don’t forget the silent and live auction from donations made by our Chamber members. Awards will also be given by the TimesRepublic for Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. So, don’t miss this fun event.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/23/19

On April 19th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Christopher Durr, age 32, of Magee, Mississippi. According to police reports, Durr was wanted on an outstanding Effingham County warrant for driving while license suspended. Durr was aware of his warrant and turned himself into the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.

 

On April 19th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Jeffrey M. Reed, age 24, of Watseka, According to police reports, Reed was charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding, and no valid registration. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.


On April 20th, 2019, Sheldon Police arrested Destiny A. Flattr age 24, of Sheldon. According to police reportsr Flat was wanted on an outstanding Kankakee Co, warrant. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she was later extradited to Kankakee County.On April 19th, 2019, Sheldon Police arrested Karen A. Coffey, age 51, of Sheldon, According to police reports, Coffey was charged with driving while license suspended, She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she posted the required bond and was released.

 

On April 20th, 2019, Sheldon Police arrested Damarlo R. Crawford, age 19, of Sheldon. According to police reports, Crawford was wanted on an outstanding Kankakee Co. warrant charging him with possession of a stolen vehicle. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later extradited to Kankakee County.

Watseka Police arrested Ashley R Collins, 22 Watseka after they received a report of retail theft in the 1700 block of E Walnut. Police located the vehicle Collins was in after leaving the store and made a traffic stop on it. During the stop Police located items that were reportedly taken from the store. Collins was charged with retail theft. Collins was transported to the Iroquois County jail.

Watseka Police arrested Derek K Kaufman, 25 Watseka in the 700 block of W Walnut at 8:50 A.M. on 04-17-19. Kaufman was charged with Possession of a

 

hypodermic needle and Possession of drug equipment. Kaufman posted bond and was released.

Watseka Police ticketed Shannon M Neuberg, 47 Watseka at 11:46 A.M. on 04-1719. Neuberg was charged with no valid driver's license. Neuberg posted bond and was released.

Watseka Police responded to a report of a vehicle taken without permission in the 600 block of N Market at 12:35 A.M. on 04-18-19.

 

Watseka Police arrested two subjects in the 600 block of W Pleasant at 3:34 A.M. on 04-18-19. According to Police reports, an officer saw two male subjects running the area, and witnessed them drop a duffel bag. During the search for the individuals, Police located a third subject inside of a vehicle. Police, assisted by the Iroquois County Sheriff's Department were able to locate one of the

subjects that had ran. Upon inspection of the bag, Police learned that the subjects had cut at least 2 catalytic converters off of vehicles. Arrested were Larry J Smith, 41 Kankakee and Florence D Vaden, 36 Richton Park. Smith and Vaden were both charged with theft over $500, Possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Police still have not located the vehicles in which the catalytic converters. Anyone having information on the thefts are asked to call

On April 16th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Odin D. Koch, age 19, of Sheldon, IL. According to police reports, Koch was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for petition to revoke probation. Koch was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

 

On April 16th, 2019, Gilman Police arrested Donald A, Malone, age 31, of Gilman, IL. According to police reports, Malone was charged with aggravated domestic battery. Malone was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

 

On April 16th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a single vehicle accident on Co. Rd. 2400 N near Co. Rd. 1300 E. According to Police reports, a vehicle driven by Kendra L. Shule, age 31, of Ashkum, IL. was traveling westbound on Co, Rd. 2400 N when a deer ran into the roadway and was struck by Shule, No injuries were reported and no citations were issued. The vehicle sustained over $1500 in damages,

According to Police reports, a subject at the residence had called from IMH ER after she was struck in the head with a pipe. After a short investigation, Police arrested James A Martinez, 31 Piper City and Jasmine Casas, 30 Gilman. Both Martinez and Casas were charged with Home Invasion and aggravated battery. Both were transported to the Iroquois County jail.

Watseka Police investigated a two vehicle accident in the 300 block of E Walnut at 2:28 P.M. on 04-13-19. According to Police reports, a vehicle driven by Aileen B Kirts, 58 Milford was backing from a parking space when her vehicle struck another vehicle that was backing from a parking space driven by Paul E Yenerich, 67 Martinton. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued. Damage was estimated at over $1,500.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/16/19

On April 14tl 2019, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Kyle S. Blackbum, age 33, of Cissna Park. According to police reports, Blackburn was wanted on two outstanding Iroquois County warrants charging him with theft over $500 and failure to appear for theft over $500. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

 

On April 14th, 2019, Kevin L. Lambert, age 32, turned himself into the Iroquois County Jail to begin a 10 day sentence for failure to register as a sex offender.

 

On April 13th , 2019, Gilman Police arrested Jasmine Casas, age 30t of Gilman. According to police reports, Casas was charged with aggravated battery and home invasion. She was transpolted to the Iroquois County Jail where she remains in lieu of bond.

KAMEG Agents make Drug Bust in Kankakee County

On Thursday, April 11, 2019, at approximately 7:33 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Donnie L. Tucker, age 18, of Kankakee, after a traffic stop near the intersection of South Harrison Avenue and East River Street in Kankakee. KAMEG Agents arrested Tucker after a probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 32.6 grams of suspected cannabis and 1.5 grams of suspected ecstasy. Tucker was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Tucker was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

On April I th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Terry L. Blair, age 24, of Gilman, IL. According to police reports, Blair was wanted on an outstanding Livingston County warrant for failure to appear for criminal damage to state supported property. Blair was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond,

 

On April 1 I th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Rolando J. Salazar, age 23, of Beaverville, IL. According to police reports, Salazar was charged with battery and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Salazar was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.

ISP Arrests

 Illinois State Police (ISP) District 21 is reporting the arrest Amy N. Taylor, 26, of Gilman for DUI; Erik L. Williams, 45, of Richton Park for DUI; Ahseniah Malone, 30, of Momence for DUI; Maurice A. Washington, 30, of Hammond, IN for Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer; and Scott R. Rush Jr., 33, of Manteno for DUI. 
 
On April 6, 2019 at approximately 2:54 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was dispatched to a crash on I-57 southbound at milepost 280 in Iroquois County.  The trooper arrived on scene and spoke with the driver, Amy Taylor.  Taylor showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Taylor was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail for processing.  Taylor was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Taylor was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and expired driver’s license. 
 
On April 6, 2019 at approximately 9:55 P.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Iroquois County.  The trooper observed a semi swerving all over the roadway on I-57 northbound at milepost 290.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Erik Williams.  Williams showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail for processing.  Williams was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Williams was also issued citations for improper lane usage, improper lighting, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license suspended, possession of cannabis less than 10 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.   
 
On April 8, 2019 at approximately 9:51 P.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County.  The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 17 at 4000 E. Road.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Ahseniah Malone.  Malone showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Malone was placed under arrest and transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing.  Malone was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Malone was also issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 
 

 
 
 
 
On April 10, 2019 at approximately 1:43 P.M., and Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Iroquois County.  The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on I57 southbound at milepost 269.  The trooper stopped the vehicle.  The vehicle pulled to the right shoulder and then took off.  The vehicle was located on I-57 southbound at milepost 235.  The driver, Maurice Washington, was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail.  Washington was charged with Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer.  Washington was also issued citations speeding and no valid driver’s license. 
 
On April 11, 2019 at approximately 1:28 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County.  The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 50 at Amberstone Parkway.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Scott Rush Jr.  Rush showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Rush was placed under arrest and transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing.  Rush was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.  Rush was also issued citations for speeding, improper lane usage, failure to signal, and failure to notify the Secretary of State of address change.

On April 3rd, 2019, Milford Police arrested Eric J. Hanson, age 27, of Sheldon. According to police reports; Hanson was charged with domestic battery. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.

 

On April 4th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Justin L, Mercier, age 30) of Milford. According to police reports, Mercier was wanted on an outstanding Kankakee County warrant charging him with aggravated domestic battery. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.

 

On April 4th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Eduard P. Schuch, age 51, of Martjnton. According to police reports, Schuch was charged with criminal damage to property under $500. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.

 

Accidents:

On April 5th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Co. Rd. 2600 N. and 2900 E. According to police reports, a vehicle driven by Christopher G. Spracklon, age 50, of Watseka, was traveling east on 2600 N. Spracklon failed to stop at the intersection as required and struck a vehicle driven by Deanna J. LeCount, age 49, of Donovan who was traveling north on 2900 E. Spracklon was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign. LeCount was transported to St, Marys Hospital for minor injuries.

 

On April 5th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a Wvo vehicle accident on N. 4th St. near Iroquois St. jn the village of Sheldon. According to police reports, a vehicle driven by Jeffrey L. Mabbitt, age 60, of Sheldon, was backing out of a private drive in the 400 block of N. 4th St. He entered the roadway and struck a vehicle driven by William H. Clingenpeel Jr. age 41, of Sheldon. Clingenpeef was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. No injuries were reported.

BODY IDENTIFIED- ARREST MADE IN NEWTON COUNTY INVESTIGATION

On the morning of 4-1-19, an autopsy was conducted.  The body was identified to be 30 year old Nicole Lynn Bowen of West Lafayette.  The FBI assisted with the identification process.

 

4-1-19 As a result of this investigation, Garett K. Kirts 21 years old of Lebanon was arrested on a Jasper County charge of RESISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT and held at the Jasper County Jail.

 

4-2-19 Jasmine N. Parker, 34 years old of Kentland, IN was charged for ASSISTING A CRIMINAL, level  5 Felony.

4-3-19 Ashley N. Garth, 26 years old of Delphi, IN was charged for ASSISTING A CRIMINAL, level 5 Felony.

4-5-19 Garett K. Kirts charged with MURDER, Felony charge.  Kirts is now in the Newton County Jail being held without bond.

 

A warrant has been issued and is outstanding for Christopher (Chris) Channing Mathis, 27 years old of Kentland for ASSISTING A CRIMINAL, level 5 Felony.

KAMEG Agents make Drug Bust in Kankakee County

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at approximately 2:40 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Sylvester M. Paino, age 23, of Kankakee, after a traffic stop near the intersection of South Schuyler Avenue and East Station Street in Kankakee. KAMEG Agents arrested Paino on three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance stemming from previous KAMEG investigations. Additionally, Paino was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after Agents located approximately 5.0 grams of suspected crack cocaine in Paino's possession. Paino was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

KAMEG Agents, with assistance from the Kankakee Police Department's Gang

Enforcement Tactical Unit (GETU), also executed three search warrants on Tuesday in Kankakee. Agents seized approximately 175.5 grams of suspected cannabis. This is an on-going investigation with more arrests anticipated.

Election Results

 Watseka Ward II: Donald L. Miller defeated Stephen Newman by a vote of 64 to 48.

 

— Watseka Ward III: Benny Marcier defeated David Watson by a vote of 131 to 59.

 

There was a question about consolidating Crescent-Iroquois District 249 and Watseka Unit 9. Those within the 249 district voted against the consolidation, 228 to 201. Those within Unit 9 voted in favor of the consolidation, 816 to 298. The question failed

 

There was a resolution for school building bonds to be issued in Iroquois West District 10. It was defeated 1,226 to 343. 

 

The village of Buckley posed a sewer question. It was defeated 93 to 63.

ISP Arrests

- Illinois State Police (ISP) District 21 is reporting the arrest of Cory L. Kilgore, 44, of Watseka for DUI; Stephen F. Barbieri, 35, of Kankakee for DUI; Sean E. Connell, 23, of Steger for DUI; Keith D. Holmes Jr., 22, of Chicago for Possession of Cannabis; and Lazeric D. Butler, 38, of Kankakee for DUI. 
 
On March 20, 2019 at approximately 9:31 P.M., an Illinois State Trooper was responding to a motorist assist on the shoulder of Route 1 at 2850 N Road in Iroquois County.  The trooper attempted to speak with the driver, Cory Kilgore, but he was unconscious behind the wheel with the car in drive.  The trooper woke Kilgore, Kilgore showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Kilgore was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail for processing.  Kilgore was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 
 
On March 27, 2019 at approximately 10:25 P.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County.  The trooper observed the driver of a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt on Park Ave. at Willow St. in Kankakee.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Stephen Barbieri.  Barbieri showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Barbieri was placed under arrest and transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing.  Barbieri was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued citations for no seat belt and driving while license revoked. 
 
On March 31, 2019 at approximately 7:29 P.M., and Illinois State Trooper was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on I-57 northbound at milepost 320 in Kankakee County.  The driver of the vehicle, Sean Connell, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.  The trooper arrived at the hospital and spoke with Connell.  It was determined that Connell had drugs in his system.  Connell was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and issued a citation for improper lane usage. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
On April 1, 2019 at approximately 2:41 P.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in 
Iroquois County.  The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on I57 southbound at milepost 295.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Keith Holmes Jr.  A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 474 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  Holmes was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail for processing.  Holmes was charged with Possession of Cannabis More Than 100 but Not More Than 500 Grams, Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis More Than 30 but Not More Than 500 Grams, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   
 
On April 2, 2019 at approximately 2:40 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Kankakee County.  The trooper observed a vehicle traveling all over the roadway on Court St. at Fairmont Ave. in Kankakee.  The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Lazeric Butler.  Butler showed signs of alcohol impairment.  Butler was placed under arrest and transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing.  Butler was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued citations for improper lane usage, failure to signal when changing lanes, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 
 

 

Body identified in Newton county

 

The body found in rural Jefferson Twp, Newton County, IN on March 30, 2019 has been identified as 30 year old Nicole L. Bowen of West Lafayette, IN.  Family has been notified.

 

Foul play is suspected.

 

There is no indication or reason to believe there is an active threat to the community.

 

This case is an active investigation.  Further information will be provided as details emerge.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police 4/2/19

On March 28th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a two vehicle accident on Co. Rd.

2950 N at 630 E. According to police reports, a vehicle driven by Russell J. Rosenboom, age 80, of Clifton, IL. was attempting to turn into a driveway at 630 E while a vehicle driven by Jeffery B. Redenius, age 31, of Ashkum, IL. was traveling westbound on Co. Rd 2950 N, Rosenboom failed to yield the righta-way while turning and was struck by Redenius. Both vehicles sustained over $1500 in damages. No citations were issued and no injuries were reported.

 

On March 29th, 2019, Scott A. Harrison, age 54, of Bourbonnais, IL. turned himself into the Iroquois County Jail to start severing a 10 weekends sentence for driving while license is suspended.

 

On March 30th, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a single vehicle accident on Co. Rd.

2200 E near Co. Rd. 2980 N. According to Police reports, a vehicle driven by Sheila A. Clark, age 53b of Danville, IL. was traveling northbound on Co. Rd. 2200 N when she lost control and went into the ditch striking a utility pole. The vehicle sustained over $1500 in damages. No citations were issued and occupants of the vehicle were taken to Iroquois Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Watseka Police arrested Cassie N Arenibar, 29 Watseka in the 400 block of N Market at 3:32 P.M. on 03-28-19. Arenibar was wanted on an Iroquois County warrant charging her with failure to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Once Arenibar was taken into custody, she was found to possession a substance believed to be heroin. Arenibar was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance. Arenibar was transported to the Iroquois County jail.

Watseka Police arrested Heather J Brewer, 22 Watseka in the 100 block of N Jefferson at 3:46 P.M. on 03-28-19. Brewer was charged with driving while license suspended. Brewer was transported to the Iroquois County jail.

Watseka Police investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Lincoln and Belmont at 9:33 A.M. on 04-01-19. According to Police reports, a vehicle driven by Robert L Donohue, 93 Watseka attempted to make a left hand turn and failed to see a vehicle driven by Santiago Bay, 30 Watseka. The Donohue vehicle then struck the Bay vehicle causing over $1,500 in damage. Riverside ambulance and Watseka Fire were called to the scene. A juvenile in the Bay vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued.

Watseka Police responded to a report of a hypodermic needle found in the 300 block of W North at 2:17 P.M. on 04-01-19.

Watseka Police assisted the FBI on at 4:18 P.M. on 04-01-19. Police were contacted by the Springfield field office regarding a threat made over a social media site. Police were able to locate the suspect, a juvenile, who told Police that the post was a joke. The case has been referred to other authorities.

Watseka Police arrested a Sheldon man following a traffic stop in the 800 block of E Walnut at 6:21 P.M. on 04-01-19. According to Police reports, a vehicle driven by Eugene Westbrook, 22 Sheldon was seen speeding by Watseka Police. Police then stopped the vehicle at a local business and as the officer exited the vehicle, Westbrook got out of the vehicle and would not comply with the officers commands. Westbrook then entered the business where he continued to ignore the officer's commands. The officer then attempted to handcuff Westbrook who then began to run, knocking over a display in the business. Westbrook then ran to his vehicle as the officer attempted to deploy his Taser, which struck Westbrook's vehicle door. Westbrook then entered his vehicle and put into reverse, striking the squad car. Westbrook then pulled forward and placed his

 

 

vehicle into reverse, again striking the squad car, heavily damaging the squad. Westbrook then turned in the officer's direction, causing him to retreat behind a parked vehicle before the Westbrook vehicle pulled out of the lot. A dispatch was then put out on the vehicle, and eventually Iroquois County Deputies were able to place Westbrook in custody North of Watseka. Once Westbrook was taken into custody, officers located approximately 110 grams of suspected marijuana "edibles" and a loaded SCCY handgun, along with two loaded magazines in the vehicle. Westbrook was charged with Unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, criminal damage to state supported property, possession of cannabis over 30 grams, resisting a police officer, aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding. Westbrook was transported to the Iroquois County jail.
