Iroqouis County Sheriff's Police June 28, 2017

IROQUOIS COUNTY  SHERIFFS POLICE 
 
June 28th, 2017 On June 27th, 2016 Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested James J. Woolsey, age 52, of Ashkum, IL. According to police reports, Sheriff's Police were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Main St. in Ashkum, IL in reference to a domestic altercation. After a brief investigation, Woolsey was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail. He was charged with domestic battery and was found to have an active Kankakee County warrant for failing to appear on a reckless driving charge. He remains at the Iroquois County Jail awaiting a court appearance.

June 27th, 2017 
 
On June 26th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police investigated a single vehicle accident on Co. Rd. 2230 E. near 1875 N. According to the police report, a vehicle driven by Douglas V. Withaft, age 26 of Watseka was traveling north on 2230 E. when he lost control on the freshly tar and chipped roadway. Withaft's vehicle entered the ditch on the east side of the roadway and overturned. Withaft was transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. No citations were issued. 
 
On June 26th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriffs Police investigated a single vehicle car vs. deer accident on Co. Rd. 2850 N. near 1750 E. According to the police report, a vehicle driven by Kaitlyn M. Dewitt, age 24 of Martinton, was traveling west on 2850 N. when several deer entered the roadway and struck Dewitt's vehicle. Dewitt's vehicle sustained over $1500 in damage, and no injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, the Iroquois County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Sheldon Police Department, arrested Melissa J. Emery, age 44, of Sheldon, IL, following an investigation in to a residential structure fire at 440 E. Center St. in Sheldon during the morning's early hours. Ms. Emery, who owns the home, was arrested after investigators determined the fire to be the result of arson. Ms. Emery was taken in to custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she was charged with Residential Arson, a Class 1 Felony. On Thursday, June 22, the Sheriff's Office arrested a 17 year-old juvenile from Sheldon on similar charges. Ms. Emery remains In custody at the Iroquois County Jail awaiting a court appearance, while the juvenile was detained pending a future court date. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office.

1. Police investigated an accident which occurred on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at 3:40 P.M. on W. Walnut St. at the intersection with N. Kay Street. A vehicle driven by Alicia N. Salvador, 31 of Watseka was west bound on Walnut St, and stopped for a train. She then decided to back up and go a different route, but did not realize that a vehicle driven by June L. Kilgore, 65 of Watseka was stopped behind her, and she backed into Kilgore's vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
2. Logan W. Yates, 18 of Watseka was ticketed on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at 12:07 A.M. for No valid driver's license, No valid registration, and Improper display of registration after he was stopped on E. Walnut St. near 6th St. for having no front registration plate on his vehicle. He posted bond and was released.
3. Jonathan M. Wielert, 28 of Sheldon was ticketed on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 5:23 A.M. for Speeding on Walnut St. near grid Street, He posted bond and was released,
4. Scott J. Baker, 45 of Watseka was arrested on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 11:43 P.M. in the 300 block of W. Victory Av, for Criminal trespass to residence and Possession of a hypodermic needle, after Police observed a door on a vacant residence standing open and discovered Baker inside. He was transported to ICSD jail where he awaits a court appearance.
5. James L. Munson, 41 of Watseka was arrested on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 8:02 P.M. in the 200 block of W, Walnut St. for Aggravated domestic battery. He was arrested at the conclusion of an investigation into a battery that occurred on Sunday June 18, 2017 at 12:07 A.M. in the 200 block of W. Fairman Avenue. He was seen walking along Walnut St. and was taken into custody. He was transported to ICSD jail where he awaits a court appearance.
6. Police were called to the 800 block of W. Lafayette St. on Sunday June, 18, 2017 at 9:56 P.M. to take a report of a stolen cell phone from a vehicle.
7. Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of N. 5th St. on Thursday June 22, 2017 at 9:24 A.M. to take a report of a vehicle that was stolen from a residence there sometime between the hours of 10:00 P.M. Wednesday evening and 9:20 A.M. Thursday morning. At around noon on Wednesday the vehicle was recovered by Police in Kankakee County and two suspects were taken into custody.

On June 19th 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police returned from Newton County In. Jail with Ronald J. Povero age 34 of Earl Park In.. Povero was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County Warrant for Aggravated Battery. Povero was transported to Iroquois County Jail where he remains in Lieu of bond. 
 

Iroquois County Tax Due Date

County Treasurer, Mindy Kuntz Hagan, announced that the deadline to pay the first installment of the 2016 payable in 2017 Iroquois County real estate taxes without penalty is Wednesday, June 21, 2017.  After that date, 1 ½ percent penalty on all property must be added to the first installment each month it remains unpaid according to the Illinois State Statutes. 
 
The Treasurer’s Office is open 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  To avoid waiting in line, you may also pay by mail, or at any bank in Iroquois County including Iroquois Federal, Commonwealth Credit Union and First State Bank of Forrest in Onarga.  If you pay in person, please bring the entire bill if you want a receipt.  If you mail your payment and wish to have a receipt, you must enclose the entire bill plus a self-addressed stamped envelope.
 
There is also a drop box at the Administrative Center near the entrance of the 911 Center for payments.  

Watseka Police News June 15-18, 2017

Watseka Police Department News Release 
 
1. Police investigated an accident which occurred on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 8:25 A.M. in the IMH parking lot, A vehicle driven by Michael Z. David, 17 of Morocco was driving through the lot, when a vehicle driven by Albert J. Day, 84 of Watseka struck David's vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
2. Police were called to the Big R store for a theft that occurred on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at approximately 6:00 P.M. Two male subjects entered the store and left with an item valued at over $1,000 without paying for the item. Anyone with any information about the theft is encouraged to contact the Watseka Police Department,
3. Police were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of S. 5th St. on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. for a robbery of a subject in theft residence. The victim knew the suspect and allowed them into their residence, when the suspect suddenly grabbed the resident's wallet and fled the scene. Police are still looking for the suspect.

1. Tiffany Taden, 25 of Kankakee was issued a citation for driving with a suspended driver's license. After a traffic stop on W. North and Jefferson St. at 10:25 PM on Thursday. She posted bond and was released. Her passenger, Rakeem Roberts, 26 of Romeoville was arrested on a LaSalle County warrant for FTA on a burglary charge. •
2. Heath Smith, 51 of Watseka reported a traffic accident that occurred on Veterans Pkwy. He reported that he was distracted from outside of the vehicle and hit the curb, flatting the tire, then drove over a fence and a sewer tile. Causing damage to Jay Morris Trucking property in excess of $3,000.00. 
 
June 18, 2017
 
1. Kenneth D. Sutherland, 22 of Milford was ticketed on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 1:16 P.M. for Driving while license suspended, after he was stopped on E. Walnut St. near 6th Street, He posted bond and was released.
2. Vance W. Trumann Jr., 33 of Milford was arrested Friday June 16, 2017 at 7:53 P.M. on E. Walnut St. near Brianna Drive on a Vermillion County warrant charging him with FTA — Possession of Methamphetamine after he was stopped on E. Walnut St. near Brianna Drive. He was stopped after an Officer ran the plate on the vehicle he was driving and it returned suspended for mandatory insurance violation, He was transported to ICSD jail where he was also ticked for the suspended registration and driving while license suspended. He awaits extradition to Vermillion County.
3, Cortez M, Lewis, 32 of Watseka was arrested on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 5:36 A.M. in the 200 block of W. Park Av. for Aggravated domestic battery, after Police were called to a residence there for a disturbance. He was transported to ICSD jail where he awaits a court appearance,
4. Jeremy A. Lehnig, 27 of Watseka was arrested on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 7:04 P.M. on Elm St. near Brianna Drive, after Police were called to a business in the 700 Block of W. Walnut St. for a disturbance.  Lehnig had left the scene, but was located a short time later on Elm Street.  He was transported to ICSD Jail where he awaits a court appearance.
 
 

 

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police June 16-18, 2017

On June 15th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Holly S. White, age 42, of Watseka, IL. White was charged with retail theft under $300 after Sheriff's Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a suspected theft of store merchandise. She was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she posted the required bond and was released. Watseka Police assisted with the case.

On June 16th 2017 Iroquois County Sheriffs Police returned from Kankakee County Jail with Dennis. R. Goodman age 44 of Grant Park. Goodman was wanted on an outstanding , Iroquois County Warrant for Domestic Battery. Goodman was transported to Iroquois County. Jail where he remains in Lieu of bond. 
 
On June 17th, 2017 Iroquois County Shc riffs Department investigated a single vehicle accident at the intersection of 1850 E. and 3000 N. Rd. According to the police report John C. Oder age 62 of MartintOn was traveling North on • 1850 E. when he failed to notice the road, clo.sed sign at the intersection. Oder abruptly maneuvered to avoid the sign and lost control causing his vehicle to overturn. Oder sustained minor injuries and was transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital. Oder's vehicle sustained over $1,500 in damage. 
 

 

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police June 12&13, 2017

June 12th, 2017 
 
On June 9th; 2017 Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Cully R. Vogt, age 31, of Morocco, Indiana, Vogt was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois. County warrant charging him with failure to appear for possession of a controlled substance. Vogt was aware of his warrant, and turned himself in to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released. 
 
On June 10th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police investigated a car vs deer accident on Co. Rd. 200 N. near 180 E. According to police reports, a vehicle driven by Tiffany M. Catalano, age 45, of Loda was traveling west on Co. Rd. 200 N. when a deer entered the roadway and struck her vehicle on the driver's side. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued, 
 
On June 9th, 2017 Sheldon Poke arrested Tanya J. Hillard) age 31, of Sheldon. According to police reports, Hillard was charged with criminal damage to property under $500. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she posted the required bond and was released. 
 
On June 12th 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police Investigated a single vehicle accident on 2850 E.. Co. Rd just South of 1200 N, Rd. According to the Police report,- Melissa Thompson age 22, of Donovan was traveling North bound on Co. Rd. 2850 E. when Thompson stated that she swerved to miss the deer and entered the road ditch striking a utility pole. Thompson's vehicle received over $1,500 in damage. Thompson was transported by Milford EMS to Iroquois Memorial Hospital where she was treated and later released. 
 
On June 12th 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police Investigated a car vs. deer traffic accident on 3400 N. Co. Rd n.ear .600 E. Co. Rd. According to the Police report, Cassandra J. Royal age 34, of Chebanse was traveling East bound on Co. Rd. 3400 N.. near 600 E. when a deer entered the roadWay.,Royal was unable to avoid the deer and struck the deer with the front of the vehicle causing over $1,500 in damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citations issued. 
 
On June 12th 2017 Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Gerald R. Johnson age 50 of Donovan. Johnson was arrested for Criminal Damage to Property. Johnson was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he later posted bond and was released. 
 

 

Watseka Police News for 6-8-17

Watseka Police Department News Release 06/08/2017 
 
1. Ashley M. Tincher, 31 of Martinton was ticketed on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 1:24 A.M. for Operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and for having no front registration plate after she was stopped on N. 3rd St. near Hickory St. for the missing plate. She posted bond and was released. 2, Police took a report of a theft of a pair of shoes from a motor vehicle parked in the 100 block of W. Locust St sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact the Watseka Police Department.

On June 8th, 2017 Gilman Police arrested Salvador S. Gomez, age 33, of Gilman, IL. Gomez was wanted on an Iroquois County warrant charging him with animal cruelty. He was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he posted the required bond and was released.

NEWS RELEASE 
 
On June 6th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Dakota W, Crank, age 19, of Loda, IL. Crank was wanted on a Bureau County, Illinois warrant for driving while his license is revoked. Crank was also wanted on a Fulton County, Indiana warrant for a probation violation for theft of a motor vehicle. He was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail to await extradition to Bureau and Fulton Counties. 
 
Onarga Police: 
On June 7th, 2017 Onarga Police arrested Jose M. Medina, age 27, of Gilman, IL. According to police reports, Onarga Police conducted a traffic stop on Medina's vehicle near the 200 block of E. Roosevelt St. in Onarga, IL. Medina began to actively resist police and became physically combative. After a brief altercation, and assistance from Iroquois County Sheriff's Police, Medina was placed into custody. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated battery to a police officer, and obstructing identification. Medina was also found to have an active Iroquois County warrant for criminal damage to property and an active Livingston County warrant for failing to appear on a prior DUI charge. Medina remains at the Iroquois County Jail in lieu,of bond.

On June 6th, 2017 Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Alice M. Richmond, age 48, of Watseka, IL. Richmond was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage after Sheriff's Police conducted 'a traffic stop on her vehicle. She was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she posted the required bond and was released. 

Watseka Police News for 6-5-17

Watseka Police Department News Release, 
6-5-17. 
1. Police investigated an accident which occurred on Sunday June 4, 2017 at approximately 12:30 P.M. in the Walmart parking lot. A black Ford truck belonging to Della A. Waiver, 56 of Watseka was parked an unoccupied in the lot, when an unknown vehicle struck her truck and then left the scene. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the Watseka Police Department.
 
2. Police investigated an accident which occurred on Sunday June 4, 2017 at 1:50 P.M. in the 500 block of E. Walnut Street. A vehicle driven by Gabrielle A. Etzel, 23 of Ashkum was east bound on Walnut St., when a vehicle up ahead made a sudden stop and turned into a driveway. Etzel was able to come to an abrupt stop to avoid hitting the car ahead of her that made a hard stop to avoid hitting the turning car. A vehicle behind Atzel, driven by Heather K. Clyden, 33 of Milford, however, was not able to stop in time to avoid striking the rear of Etzel's vehicle. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued,
 
3. Roni R. Linares Ramirez, 35 of Watseka was ticketed on Monday June 5, 2017 at 1:40 A.M. for Disobeying a stop sign on N. 3rd St. at Oak Street. He posted bond and was released.
