WARMER WEATHER = CRIMES OF OPPORTUNITY

A few reminders to help you enjoy your summer-

More people will be moving around during the warmer nights, simply locking your car doors and keeping valuables out of sight may prevent someone from tugging on your door and gaining access.   Maybe you’re only 100 feet from your car while watching your kid’s baseball game but left the doors unlocked or windows down……..#removekeyslockdoors

Same for your home, locking your doors while you make that “quick trip” for a few minutes could make a huge difference.

Divided attention visitors- It happens every year.  You are working in your yard and someone stops by with some story or sales pitch to distract you while another person goes in your home to grab whatever they can as quickly as they can.  Be aware!

Tools left out- That new chainsaw, push mower or maybe a dirt bike is a prime target for someone driving around looking for something quick and easy.  Prevent the yard bandits!

On-line sales-  Reminder, you are welcome to use the Sheriff’s Dept parking lot for a meeting place to prevent an unknown person coming to your home address.

Telephone scams are endless- car warranty, social security number has been suspended, Power Company or IRS calls.  Don’t blindly believe that call you get.  Check it out before sending money.  If anyone ask you to get gift cards as payment………………RED FLAG!

Any active incident should be reported to 9-1-1 immediately.  Provide as much information as possible; suspect’s physical description, details and plate number of suspect’s vehicle.
