NEWTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE 

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of shots fired.

This morning (5-6-19) 11:00AM a motorist was near CR 400S (old SR 114) and CR 600W when a newer red Ford pickup, occupied by two black males (estimated to be in their 20’s-30’s) was soon behind him.  The occupants in the Ford waved for the motorist to pull over and displayed a black handgun.  The motorist accelerated to flee; shots were fired from the Ford striking the motorist vehicle 3 times.  No injuries were reported.

All suspects are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
