Watseka Police Department News 12/13/18

Watseka Police conducted a short investigation at 11:10 A.M. on 12-12-18 that led to the arrest of a Sheldon man. Police were called to a local business at 10:38 A.M. after a report of a man that had come to the business and tried to pass a counterfeit Chinese $20 bill. Once the man was confronted he fled the business. Police were then called to another local business and were again told the man had tried to pass a counterfeit Chinese $20 before fleeing the business. Police then located the vehicle at another local business and then were able to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, and were able to locate the counterfeit Chinese $20 bill. Police later were contacted by an Indiana man who had accepted another counterfeit Chinese $20 bill from the man. James E Koch, 51 Sheldon was arrested and was charged with 3 counts of forgery. Koch was transported to the Iroquois County jail. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Watseka Police responded to a report of a civil disturbance in the 200 block of E Hickory at 3:36 P.M. on 12-12-18.

Watseka Police responded to a report of theft in the 600 block of Virginia at 6:44

P.M. on 12-12-18.

Watseka Police responded to a report of trespassing in the 1700 block of E Walnut at 6:54 P.M. on 12-12-18.

Watseka Police responded to a report of a domestic in the 1000 block of W Smith at 10:39 P.M. on 12-12-18.

Watseka Police cited Christopher M Novak, 23 Danforth for disobeying a stop sign. Novak posted bond and was released.

Watseka Police responded to an animal complaint in the 800 block of W Iroquois at 4:27 A.M. on 12-13-18.
