ISP Arrests

ASHKUM, IL- Illinois State Police (ISP) District 21 is reporting the arrest of Haywood D.
Carr, 35, of Champaign; Max V. Triplett, 32, of Hammond, IN; Mary K. Gilbert, 61, of
Kankakee all for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Jabarie J. Johns, 20, of
Kankakee, and Isahih D. Hill, 18 of Kankakee both for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
and Obstructing Justice.
 
On February 23, 2018 at approximately 12:39 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on
patrol in Ford County. The trooper observed a vehicle disabled on the right shoulder on
I-57 southbound at milepost 261. The trooper approached the vehicle and spoke with
the driver, Haywood Carr. Carr showed signs of alcohol impairment. Carr was placed
under arrest and transported to the Ford County Jail for processing. Carr was charged
with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued a citation for improper parking on
the roadway.
 
On February 23, 2018 at approximately 9:01 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on
patrol in Iroquois County. The trooper observed a vehicle traveling above the posted
speed limit and weaving all over the roadway on I-57 southbound at milepost 284. The
trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Max Triplett. Triplett showed
signs of alcohol impairment. Triplett was placed under arrest and transported to the
Iroquois County Jail for processing. Triplett was charged with Driving Under the
Influence of Alcohol and issued citations for speeding and improper lane usage.
 
On February 23, 2018 at approximately 8:28 P.M., and Illinois State Trooper was on
patrol in Kankakee County. The trooper observed a vehicle traveling above the posted
speed limit and weaving all over the roadway on Route 17 at 4500E Road. The trooper
stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Mary Gilbert. Gilbert showed signs of
alcohol impairment. Gilbert was placed under arrest and transported to the Kankakee
County Jail for processing. Gilbert was charged with Driving Under the Influence of
Alcohol and issued citations for speeding and improper lane usage.
 
On February 24, 2018 at approximately 3:14 A.M., and Illinois State Trooper was on
patrol in Kankakee County. The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of
speed (102 mph in a 70 mph zone) on I-57 southbound at milepost 314. The trooper
caught up to the vehicle on Court Street in Kankakee. As the trooper stopped the
vehicle, the driver exited the vehicle and ran. Two occupants remained in the vehicle,
Jabarie Johns and Isahih Hill. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a firearm
and ammunition. Johns and Hill did not have a valid FOID. Johns and Hill were placed
under arrest and transported to the Kankakee County Jail for processing. Johns and
Hill were charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Firearm Ammunition and
Obstructing Justice.
