Russel James Sadler, 91, of Chebanse

Russel James Sadler, 91, of Chebanse passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home. Russel was born on June 3, 1927 in Chebanse; the son of the late William and Hilda (Koerner) Sadler. Russel married Elinor Jane Bellee in Chebanse on July 1, 1950; she preceded him in death on January 3, 2008. Russel proudly served our country in the Navy during WWII; after his service to our country he worked for Roper for many years. During his leisure time Russel enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, was a member of the Otto Township Fire Department for 25 years, a member of VFW Post 2131, a longtime volunteer at Evergreen Cemetery, was a member of St. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, enjoyed woodworking and carpentry building several houses in Chebanse, and mostly spending time with his family and friends.

Russel is survived by his daughters; Jody (Robert Duis) Lafond of Grant Park, Cris (Daniel “Bo”) Perkinson of Piper City, Terri (Thomas) Koronkowski of Limestone, his grandchildren Mandy; (Patrick) McNeely, Jerod (Jessica) Lafond, Nicholas (Kelly Hogan) Sadler, Ryan Koronkowski, and Sara Koronkowski, his great grandchildren; Ethan and Carson McNeely, a brother Laverne Sadler of Morocco, IN, a longtime friend Melba Meier, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Russel was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family will receive guests at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton on Friday, November 30, from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass celebrated by Rev. Doug Hauber will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 11 am at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Chebanse.

In honor of Russel’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded followed by an inurnment at a later date.
