Jean M. Bower, 73, of Crescent City passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her home. She was born August 31, 1944 in Watseka, the daughter of Herman and Martha Tobeck Bruens and they preceded her in death in addition to one brother, Les Bruens and one sister, Aldine Young.

She married Edmund Bower on October 10, 1964 in Kentland, IN and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kim (Bob) Kirby of McHenry and Sara Bower of Crescent City; three grandchildren, Abby, Nolan and Katie Kirby of McHenry; one brother, Jerry (Shirley) Bruens of Cissna Park; and one sister, Joy (Melvin) Metzger of Lewisburg, PA.

Mrs. Bower was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. She worked in the office and cashiered at the Watseka Eagle Grocery Store and also worked at 1st National Bank in Crescent City. Jean took great pride in her work. Jean loved yardwork and maintaining her flower garden, but also enjoyed taking trips across the Western United States to take in the scenery and nature. When not outside, Jean enjoyed doing large puzzles or reading a good book. Jean loved her family and treasured spending time with her three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral Mass on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Michael Powell will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Kentland, IN.

Memorials may be made to Masses or the American Cancer Society.
